Boogie Street, conosciuta anche come Bugis Street, è una strada di Singapore, nota negli anni '70 per essere ritrovo di transessuali e travestiti. Cohen la sceglie come emblema di ogni tipo di tentazione a cui l'uomo cerca vanamente di resistere. A metà Anni Ottanta l'intera zona di Bugis è stata modernizzata con la costruzione di una stazione della metro e di diversi centri commerciali, portando alla scomparsa del suo carattere illecito e trasgressivo.
il commento alla canzone è pietoso. Cohen non sarebbe stato MAI così banale.
